WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Must-Keep Consumables & Trinkets | What Still Matters In 2026 TBC?
During the pre-patch and after the release of TBC, not all WoW Classic 20th Anniversary items need to be replaced immediately. While most class tier gear and weapons will quickly be replaced by Outland quest and dungeon gear, some consumables, trinkets, and equipment will remain extremely valuable in the early stages of The Burning Crusade and even throughout the game.
If you are a WoW 20th Anniversary player, preparing these items in advance can make your TBC journey smoother.

Consumables
Brilliant Wizard Oil
- Effect: Applies to weapons, providing spell damage and critical strike rating.
While there is a higher-tier Superior Wizard Oil in TBC that provides even higher spell damage, it does not provide critical strike. For most spellcaster classes, critical strike is more valuable than the extra spell damage. Therefore, Brilliant Wizard Oil will remain the best-in-slot for many spellcaster players in the early stages of The Burning Crusade.
Scrolls
- Effect: Different scrolls can provide +17 to a primary stat, such as Strength or Agility.
TBC Anniversary has Rank 5 scrolls with +20 stats, but WoW 20th Anniversary Rank 4 scrolls are a very cost-effective alternative, especially if you don't want to waste gold on the highest-level scroll.
Free Action Potion
- Effect: Grants immunity to movement-impairing effects and stun for 30 seconds after use.
Free Action Potion is extremely useful for tanks in The Burning Crusade's heroic dungeons and certain boss encounters. This potion was not nerfed in TBC and is easy to craft.
Elixir Of Demonslaying
- Effect: Increases attack power against demons.
The major enemies in The Burning Crusade expansion are demons. For melee DPS and hunters, the boost from using Elixir of Demonslaying even surpasses that of the new flasks in TBC. However, the downside is its 5-minute duration and the fact that the materials come from Classic, so the required gold can be substantial.
Dark Rune And Demonic Rune
- Function: Both consume a small amount of health to restore mana, sharing a cooldown with health stones.
They provide an additional means of recovery for classes with limited mana. Although The Burning Crusade adjustments may reduce reliance on these consumables, they can still be quite useful during progression or for healers.
Dark Runes are tradable, and you can farming them in Scholomance. Demonic Runes are not tradable and are primarily dropped by demons.
Flasks
- Effect: Different Flasks provide different resistances or attributes.
Flasks can be crafted directly in Shattrath City after TBC launch, without needing to return to Scholomance or Blackwing Lair laboratory. Most Classic Flasks remain very powerful, while some Flasks have undergone changes in WoW TBC.
- Flask of Distilled Wisdom: In TBC, it now provides a large amount of Intellect.
- Flask of Mighty Restoration: In TBC, it only provides 5 mana regeneration per second.
Trinkets And Gear
Healer
Scarab Brooch
- Effect: Generates an absorption shield equal to 15% of the healed amount for 30 seconds.
Scarab Brooch's effect is based on a percentage of healing and scales with gear, making it a powerful trinket that can be used long-term in TBC.
Darkmoon Card: Blue Dragon
- Effect: Spells have a 2% chance to grant 100% spirit mana regeneration while casting for 15 seconds.
This card can be redeemed by completing Beasts deck. It's a good choice for spirit-dependent healing classes, useful for long battles or progression.
Tank
Styleen's Impeding Scarab
- Effect: Provides blocking and defense attributes.
Defense is a key attribute in TBC heroic raids, and this trinket helps tanks quickly reach the critical strike immunity requirement, especially suitable for shield tanks.
Glyph Of Deflection
- Effect: Greatly increases shield block value for 20 seconds.
Its value is similar to Styleen's Impeding Scarab, both being very suitable for shield tanks, making protection warriors and paladins very effective against high-pressure physical damage.
Melee DPS
Badge Of The Swarmguard
- Effect: Attacks reduce the target's armor and grant armor penetration.
This item is effective against targets with no or low armor penetration, and is very useful for clearing trash mobs in early TBC dungeons.
Fetish Of The Sand Reaver
- Effect: Reduces threat by 70% for 20 seconds.
This item's effect decays with level in TBC, providing approximately 50% threat reduction at level 70. Since melee over-taunt (110%) is more sensitive than ranged (130%), this trinket remains extremely valuable for melee DPS in controlling threat and maximizing output.
Caster DPS
Mind Quickening Gem
- Effect: Increases haste rating by 330 for 20 seconds.
Although nerfed in TBC, and Icy Veins bug with the mage was fixed, it remains a powerful burst trinket for Caster DPS.
Eye Of Diminution
- Effect: Reduces the threat generated by the wearer and provides spell critical strike rating.
The threat reduction effect decays with level in mid-TBC, reaching approximately 25% at level 70. However, it is very helpful for ranged DPS like Mega Evolutions and Warlocks in controlling threat during AoE or burst attacks.
Neltharion's Tear
- Effect: Provides a significant amount of spell damage and hit rating.
Neltharion's Tear is one of the most valuable spellcaster-class WoW 20th trinkets. Its substantial hit rating and spell damage allow you to use it until Tier 4 or even later before replacing it.
While these items are powerful, new TBC gear will eventually largely replace them. However, due to players shifting to Outland, the drop rate of Classic materials may decrease, causing the value of related consumables to rise, so preparing in advance can save on gold consumption.
WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Gold Management Guide | How To Prepare For 2026 TBC Pre-Patch?
WoW Classic 20th Anniversary phase 6 is drawing to a close, and TBC Pre-Patch will arrive in January 2026. Azeroth is once again facing massive changes.
However, no matter how many times it‘s remade, TBC expansion is always one of the most beloved expansions for players, and a huge influx of players is expected when it officially launches. If you‘re a WoW Classic 20th Anniversary player, you can start earning gold in advance to prepare for TBC.

Why Do You Need Gold?
In TBC, the demand for gold is enormous. Just learning to fly requires approximately 6000 WoW Classic 20th Anniversary gold, and other expenses such as skill training during leveling, crafted gear at max level, various consumables, and Terocone will consume a significant amount of gold.
Without gold, exploring and raiding will be extremely inconvenient. Now is the perfect time for you to prepare for returning to WoW Classic 20th Anniversary.
Vendor Flipping
You can trade items with in-game vendors and then sell them at a higher value on Auction House. Many players are used to browsing Auction House and trading directly there. Going to vendors would be time-consuming, so this method is called Vendor Flipping.
This method is suitable for new characters or early-game players on the server. It‘s a good way to earn starting capital while leveling, but the earnings are small, and you need addons to track your profits, which is cumbersome. This method is still effective in TBC because many vendors sell recipes and materials in the new version.
Professions
It is highly recommended that you max out your professions during WoW 20th Anniversary before TBC launch to avoid having to collect Classic Era materials after the expansion.
If you only have one main character, your profession choices should balance three aspects: increasing character combat power, crafting ability, and farming ability.
Caster Classes Profession Combination
- Tailoring + Engineering
Tailoring provides casters with BiS gear and daily cooldown crafts, such as Primal Mooncloth. Engineering offers exclusive items like bombs, gnome sabers, Zapthrottle Mote Extractor, and powerful Engineering-specific Tinkers. You can also use Engineering for farming. Absorb Gas Clouds in the wild using Zapthrottle Mote Extractor to obtain Primals or Mote.
Recommended General Combination
- Engineering + Alchemy
Engineering provides convenience and farming capabilities, while Alchemy provides a stable passive income through the daily transmute cooldown of Transmute Specialization.
Multi-Character Strategy
If you have multiple main characters, you can divide them into farming characters and crafting characters. Farming characters can learn Herbalism, while Mining is used to gather high-value materials in TBC. Crafting characters learn Alchemy and Tailoring to gain unique buffs, and you can generate passive income by using cooldown skills during daily logins.
Farming Methods
Solo Farms
In Winterspring, killing High Chief Winterfall‘s Cave yields Winterfall Firewater, approximately 15 gold per bottle, with a 6-minute respawn time. You can use a targeting macro and instant cast spells, along with an addon to track the chief‘s spawn. During the cooldown period, kill nearby Winterfall Ursa to obtain more Firewater and Winterfall E‘ko.
You can also travel to Western Plaguelands to kill Scarlet Spellbinders, as they have a chance to drop a recipe: Formula: Enchant Weapon - Crusader. The recipe is worth over 500 gold and may increase. It is expected to drop every 3-4 hours, with an average yield of about 150 gold per hour.
Group Farming
The first farm is Scholomance. Your goal is Dark Runes, which currently drop primarily from bosses, not mobs. Each Dark Rune is worth about 20 gold and remains a BiS item in TBC.
Alternatively, you can go to Winterspring and accept Luck Be With You Quest to collect three types of E‘ko. Since all party members can loot them, this farm is uncontested and highly profitable.
- Frostmaul E‘ko: Dropped by Frostmaul Giant, each worth about 8 gold.
- Winterfall E‘ko: Dropped by Winterfall Ursa, which also drops Winterfall Firewater.
- Chillwind E‘ko: It can be drops from Chillwind Chimaera and used for frost resistance gear.
Investing
Investing is the fastest way to earn gold, but you‘ll need some initial capital and to analyze supply and demand. In TBC Pre-patch, demand for certain WoW Classic 20th Anniversary materials will surge, while supply won‘t suddenly increase, thus increasing their value.
You can trade and hold them while their value is currently low, then sell them when demand rises after TBC Pre-patch or expansion launches.
First, It is recommend you to invest in herbs, as many players will need large quantities to quickly level up their alchemy skill in TBC, increasing their value.
Similar to herbs are ores, such as Thorium Ore, Mithril Ore, and Iron Ore. Demand will increase because Jewelcrafting profession will be available in TBC Pre-patch, as players will need large amounts of WoW 20th Anniversary ores to reach the profession level.
WoW Token
Data mining suggests that WoW Tokens may be introduced for TBC Anniversary, but this has not been officially confirmed. For players who enjoy earning gold, WoW Tokens are not a bad thing. They allow players to exchange in-game gold for game time, essentially allowing them to play the game for free.
Currently, It is the end of Phase 6 of WoW 20th Anniversary, and farming efficiency may be low. A more efficient strategy is to aim to enter TBC with 1000-2000 gold, then take advantage of the higher farming efficiency in the early stages of the expansion (quickly earning the remaining gold needed for flying mounts). This is more time-efficient than spending 50 hours farming in the current version.
Right now, you should prioritize leveling your character, improving your professions, and investing in the market so you can earn gold through various methods after TBC starts.
