What Qualities Should Tank Builds Possess?

Tanker roles often convey a solid and reliable impression in combat. While their damage output may be average, their health and defense are superior to their DPS, making them effective at attracting enemies and protecting teammates in team fights.

However, the tank builds we're introducing this time are designed to be suitable both for solo and team play, so their damage output needs to be average.

Therefore, when choosing artifacts, armor, and perks, in addition to the most important health and defense bonuses, it's important to include items with damage buffs to ensure you can still kill enemies in a timely manner during solo exploration.

In addition, for tank builds, you should always focus on strength and constitution. Investing enough points in each, try to maintain a 1:1 or 1.5:1 ratio between the two.

Artifact Selection

Although Season 10 has added new artifacts, don't rush. New isn't always the best. At least for tank builds, we recommend the classic ring Blooddrinker.

The most important perk within this artifact, Ghoul's Harmony, grants you 25% lifesteal effect and increases all healing from lifesteal by an additional 5%.

Although the accompanying debuff reduces your base damage to enemies, the overall artifact system update introduced in Season 10 has reduced this value from 25% to 20%, and further reduced to 15% if the target is diseased.

You can choose a Sword and Shield-centric tank build based on your needs and available artifacts. Of course, different build styles require you to unlock different Sword and Shield abilities.

PvE - Shield Bash: Increases defense, damage output, cooldown reduction, and threat management

Regardless of your build style, we recommend Hatchet as your secondary weapon. While it lacks obvious tanking characteristics, it's highly forgiving, easy to master, and compatible with most builds and combat types.

However, it's important to note that Hatchet is best suited for PvE combat, as it deals more damage and complements your primary weapon. Additionally, Cut Pristine Carnelian Gem can also be added to your secondary weapon.

Which Additional Perks Can Enhance Your Build?

In addition to the perks inherent to artifacts, some gear provides slots for you to add more perks, boosting the strength of the gear and even the entire build. For tank builds, the following perks are recommended:

• Enchanted Ward: Reduces the damage dealt by enemy light and heavy attacks.
• Refreshing Ward: Reduces skill cooldown, allowing you to block or defend more frequently.
• Hated: Helps you continuously generate threat, attracting enemy aggro.
• Health: Increases your maximum health.

Bow Build In S10 Overview

As you craft your build, you'll need to continuously earn gold and new gear to complete it, so you'll definitely want to delve into the modes and challenges available in the early stages.

This will also help you become more familiar with Season 10 mechanics, allowing you to use your established bow build to defeat more challenging bosses once you enter the endgame.

The build introduced here is actually more suited for PvE, so you can be more targeted when searching for gear. You can also try using this build to handle simple PvP encounters, but it won't be effective in large-scale PvP battles.

Also, due to the nature of the bow weapon, this build isn't ideal for melee combat. However, it offers good overall range adaptability, is very versatile, and has high damage potential.

Optimal Armor

Let's start with armor. After all, in the early stages of a season, learning how to improve your defense and survivability to protect yourself is paramount.

To do this, you can first consume your New World coins to redeem a medium headwear with as many defensive perks as possible, such as Flame Conditioning or Slash Conditioning.

Afterwards, you'll need to continue farming for available light chest armor and light gloves. Of course, you still need to strive to acquire and equip items with a wonderful selection of defensive perks.

Generally speaking, most armor sets have Physical Ward and Shock Conditioning, so when choosing a chest armor, focus on Energizing Evade Shot and ensure your gloves have Lifestealing perk.

For legwear, the best choice is Attuned Leather Pants. It grants +9 to all attributes and has the unique perks Elemental Aversion II and Shirking Energy II. They also provide an empty gem slot and a defense slot.

Note that with the Season 10 update, you can use Umbral Shards to increase your gear score. Therefore, if you have enough shards, it's best to upgrade your armor score to 785 - the same applies to the weapons described below.

Weapon Selection And Combination

The bow is undoubtedly the main weapon of the entire build. To ensure its effectiveness, you can combine it with the following abilities:

• Penetrating Shot: Fires an arrow that deals 150% weapon damage and pierces the target, with a range of 100 meters.
• Rapid Shot: Fires three arrows in succession, dealing 100%, 100%, and 120% weapon damage, respectively.
• Rain of Arrows: Unleashes a rain of arrows in a 4-meter radius, dealing 150% weapon damage.

As for your secondary weapon choice, there are many options for a bow build, but based on your existing armor and the other content we'll discuss later, we recommend the rapier.

This is because in PvE combat, these two weapons combined can deliver high burst damage, especially if you prioritize your Intelligence when investing in attributes, which will increase your DPS and overall elemental attack boost.

The specific use of these two weapons in combat is to first use the bow to lure the enemy to you, then use the rapier to deal burst damage and knock them down. Regarding the specific Rapier choice, Finisher is a good artifact.

It's worth noting that there's another way to combine the bow and rapier: use the rapier for a quick escape, but then use Riposte ability to stagger and stun the enemy for 2 seconds when they get close.

Jewelry Pairing

Jewelry is a general term, specifically encompassing amulets, rings, and earrings, each with distinct functions.

When choosing amulets, aim for perks that increase health, stamina, and recovery. Vicious and Omnidirectional Evade are both excellent amulet perks for bow builds.

Rings focus on increasing your damage and defense, so we recommend equipping Soulpollen. It has a base gear score of 650-700 and several unique perks.

Earrings are unique in that they grant a unique perk called Refreshing Toast, which shortens the cooldown of potions, giving you a chance to turn the tide in long battles.

How To Invest In Attributes?

For bow builds, choosing and investing in attributes primarily depends on how you plan to use your secondary weapon.

If you want to focus your secondary weapon on keeping distance from enemies, invest all of your Dexterity after reaching 50 Constitution to ensure agility and evasion.

If you're aiming for more damage with your secondary weapon, especially with our recommended rapier, you can focus on Intelligence, providing both increased damage and the bow's elemental attack bonus.

Note that the first stat investment option is only suitable for advanced Season progression, as you'll be proficient with the bow and arrows at this point, and 50 Constitution is generally sufficient. Using this method too early may result in additional losses.

Umbral Shards In Season 10

The main purpose of this item remains unchanged in Season 10: it aims to increase your gear score from 700 to a maximum of 800. Please note that to address previous issues, you can now only earn a maximum of 4,000 Umbral Shards per week.

Therefore, after completing your weekly Umbral Crystal farming, you'll need to plan your use to maximize their value.

Why Should You Farm Umbral Shards?

Umbral Shards increase your gear score, significantly increasing your gear's base damage and perk effectiveness. This will grant your character more combat bonuses and unlock more endgame content to earn rewards.

It's important to note that while your gear score can currently reach 800, it's best not to exceed 785 unless you're truly devoted to a particular piece of gear, as its effectiveness diminishes with increasing levels after 785.

Farming By Playing PvP Modes

While PvP modes haven't changed significantly in Season 10, most gameplay modes offer Umbral Shards as rewards.

Capture The Flag

This mode officially launched in New World in Season 9. Each round consists of two teams of 10 players, each lasting ten minutes. Your goal is to capture the opposing team's flag. In addition to Umbral Shards, you also earn PvP XP.

It's important to note that compared to other PvP modes, CTF is more fast-paced, requiring you to be quick and agile in both flag-grabbing and combat. Therefore, it's important to consume New World coins for gear with these bonuses to increase efficiency.

Outpost Rush

Catacombs

As the main new gameplay mode in Season 10, Catacombs is truly remarkable in terms of playability. Not only is it challenging, but each dungeon you enter is a new one, and as long as someone in your party successfully leaves, you'll receive a large amount of loot.

Unfortunately, the drop rate of Catacombs for Umbral Shard farming is quite low, making it unsuitable as a mainstream PvE farming method. It should only be used as a supplement to other materials you're looking to earn.

Mutations

Mutations are essentially mutated versions of standard Expeditions, enhancing the enemies and bosses in standard Expeditions. Therefore, they are essentially endgame content. Three Expeditions will mutate weekly, each with three difficulty levels.

Undoubtedly, farming the most difficult Mutation will yield the most Umbral Shards, but given its high difficulty, it's difficult to unlock them quickly, especially since Season 10 has only been online for a week.

As for the first two difficulty levels, the current problem is that the challenge isn't proportional to Umbral Shard drop rate, making them unworthy of your full effort.

Elite Chest Runs

This event takes place throughout the day in New World Aeternum. Simply send a message in the world channel to invite other players to join you in clearing Elite zones or Strongholds to obtain chests and unlock the desired rewards.

Currently available zones include:

• Imperial Palace
• Attalus's Foundry

Hatchet, on the other hand, needs to forgo Social Distancing and opt for Rending Throw, applying Rend effect to the boss, increasing the team's damage by 20%. You can obtain this artifact within five runs of Empyrean Forge expedition to Great Cleave on mutated difficulty.

Old Crown (Headwear) And Nimble Coat (Chestwear)

Old Crown and Nimble Coat aren't as important as the Inferno, but each has its own significance. Old Crown's advantage is its +6 to all stats and the ability to open three gem sockets. Improving all stats can significantly increase your damage, and gems are crucial in Season 10. They not only provide damage reduction but also provide Rune Classes, each of which provides additional damage, significantly improving your build.

However, Nimble Coat delivers the most damage. It pairs exceptionally well with Rapier, while Old Crown only works well with Greatsword, which isn't heavily ability-dependent. Both are primarily obtained through PvP track.

Blooddrinker (Ring Jewelry)

Jewelry artifacts aren't particularly important. Blooddrinker is the recommended artifact. It provides significant lifesteal, allowing you to maintain your effectiveness without a tank or healer, and even take on bosses solo. If you prefer solo play, you absolutely must try it. It's primarily dropped by Greundgul the Regent in Starstone Barrow.

Weapon Combinations

Melee DPS

Great Sword can serve as a DPS weapon, similar to the Inferno, but is slightly less powerful than Rapie or Axe combo. It's more commonly used for tanking, combining it with a Great Sword and Hammer or a Great Sword and Sword and Shield.

Great Axe is very effective in melee combat, thanks primarily to its Reap, which pulls nearby enemies toward you and taunts them. Combined with Hammer's Shockwave and Path of Destiny abilities, it can be used to mow down smaller enemies.

It also synergizes with Spear, whose abilities grant various debuffs like Rend and Pierce, Weakness, and Bleeding, making it extremely useful against bosses. However, be aware that Rend effect doesn't stack infinitely within a group; similar effects only apply at the highest value, so avoid duplicating weapons when forming a group.

Ranged DPS

In Season 10, if you want to participate in Nighthaven raid, the best combination is a Blunderbuss + Fire Staff. However, to maximize your damage, your Fire Staff must be an Inferno, and your other weapons must be upgraded to their GS using New World coins and materials.

But for casual players, are there other options? Of course, there are some. Musket + Void Gauntlet or Bow + Void Gauntlet or Rapier both deal decent damage. For Void Gauntlet artifact, choose Lifetaker, while for Rapier artifact, choose Finisher.

Ice Gauntlet is no longer a Mate damage weapon in Season 10, but it can still be used as a secondary weapon or for control DPS in large-scale PVP.

Healer

Healer received adjustments in Season 10, but its role hasn't changed much. If you want to effectively support a team, the best combination is Life Staff + Void Gauntlet.

Core Perks And Gems

Before introducing perks, I'd like to remind you that old enchantments no longer stack with new ones, and these will be fixed soon, so don't invest in them. Here are recommend perks: 

• Sacrificial Empowerment II: Increases damage. It's best to have this perk on every piece of gear.
• Enchanted Ward: Reduces damage from light and heavy attacks. Equip multiple of this perk to stack.
• Keenly Empowered: Increases damage on critical hits. This perk is suitable for every class.
• Keenly Jagged: Apply a powerful DoT effect on critical hits.
• Prolonged Favor II: Extends the duration of a buff by 10%. Ideal for builds that prioritize dot-time buffs.
• Refreshing: Reduces skill and potion cooldowns, and this perk is valuable for all your classes.
• Attunement Perks: Increases weapon damage. While currently very strong, it's expected to be nerfed soon. It can be combined with other perks.
• Vicious: Increases critical hit damage.
• Enchanted: Increases light and heavy attack damage. Ideal for weapons with fast attack speed.

New World: Aeternum Season 10 offers a wide range of gear and weapon combinations. You can freely combine and match excellent combinations to optimize melee and ranged DPS based on your available gear.

New World Aeternum Season 10, which launched on October 13th, introduces two new artifacts and restructures the entire artifact system, particularly making older artifacts more reliable.

Below is a list of these two new artifacts and how to obtain them, as well as the way to get Crescent's Wave, the most popular artifact from Season 9, in the new season.

Crescent's Wave - Season 9

Although Season 9 has ended, Crescent's Wave is still worth using in battle. Essentially, it's a greatsword piece of gear that grants you ranged magic attacks through unstable arcane energy, creating a long-range, high-damage burst.

In Season 9, this artifact was a Tier 20 reward in the free Season Pass, but if you missed it then, you'll now need to travel to high-level zones and participate in portal runs to earn it.

Incinerating Hatchet

This was a higher-tier free Season Pass reward from Season 10, requiring at least Tier 20 to earn - sort of like a Season 10 version of Crescent's Wave. This artifact has a unique incineration effect, inflicting additional incineration when you use it on ranged attacks.

If you accumulate three stacks of this incineration effect on an enemy, your next ranged attack will trigger an explosion. And consuming all stacks and dealing burst damage and 100% weapon damage to all enemies in the designated area.

This artifact also has a weapon mastery skill slot and an offensive skill slot, into which you can add your preferred perks. The Incinerating Hatchet also comes with two fixed perks: Distained Infliction II and Mortal Aggression II.

It's important to note that, unlike the other two new Season 10 artifacts to be introduced later, the Incinerating Hatchet isn't truly "new," but rather a potential build idea for Freya's Francisca artifact.

Furthermore, given that Incinerating Hatchet's acquisition method in Season 10 is very similar to Crescent's Wave's in Season 9, it's possible to obtain this Hatchet in Season 11.

Contagious Plague
